Worry vs. Concern
It is said that worry doesn’t get you anywhere.
Worry is always taking a negative and seldom a true out look on something. underneath worry is fear, fear that something is going to happen that will ultimately effect your security in some way.
Let Life Unfold You cannot control life so stop trying. You can play your part by adopting patterns (different and constant ways of doing something) but you cannot control life.
Life happens outside of you and you have no power over this kind of life you only have power over your inner life and that I ensure you, you can take complete control of over time. By using thought changing tools, power patterns, beliefs that serve you – you are in control of your inner world. But the outside world is in the power of someone other than you.
You cannot decide how something will play out, any more than you can decide if it is going to rain today. You play your part and watch to see what unfolds.
If you know this you can relax and stop trying to push the world the way you want it, that is an uphill battle my friend that guarantees worry and struggle. Instead of pushing, try letting go.. I mean REALLY letting go and let it all unfold. you are responsible for doing your ‘bit’ but after that you simply ‘watch’ the outcome.
You let life unfold before you, never trying to control anything out there.. you cannot so stop worrying and start living.
Most of our worries never happen. stop and think about it for one minute. Sure you can think of a time somewhere out there where it did but if you were a situation looking at the odds of something happening you would probably have to say that the likely hood of your worry or fear happening is likened to the likelihood of you winning the lottery.
If i took all of the times you worried and put them in a big black bin bag we would have a whole room of black bags each would be filled to the rim with ‘never’ worries before one worry has a chance of actually becoming true. So stop worrying – it is useless to you. It is imagined fear and it is simply very seldom true.
So what do we replace worry with? If you run the ‘worry’ through a ‘worry machine’ you would ask one thing.. is this something i can do anything about or is it held in a power outside of me? Change the word ‘worry’ with the word ‘concerned’. “I am worried about not passing my exam” becomes ” I am concerned about not passing my exam” this immediately turns it into something you can identify any actions that you can take in the now or near distant future. If there is nothing you can do in the now, and you cannot write something down for you to do at some point in the future, then let go of the worry.. it is as simple as that.
So 3 Steps In Your Worry Machine:
- Turn the word ‘worried’ into the word ‘concerned’
- Can you do anything NOW to change or effect or prepare for the outcome? if so, do it NOW and move on!
-
If not, can you write something down that you can do in the future to prepare for the ‘concerned’ outcome? if so write it down, let it go and move on.
If you cannot take any action regarding the ‘concern’ – let go. let go of the ‘concern’.. it is made up in your head and serves no purpose, it is something with which you have no control over.. you have no choice but to let it go.
To hold on past this point is of no use to you at all. Like I said you cannot control the outside world. It helps to put it away – it serves no purpose to keep dwelling or thinking about it – write down what you can do, do it now or schedule it into your day and then put it away until then.
If you are waiting on an answer or someone else, then it is now out of your control, let it do its thing and see what returns back to you. Forget about it and it will take care of itself !!
Summary = never worry, if you have a ‘concern’ do something about it or let it go.. its that simple!!
